The List
5. "The Agency" (CBS, 2001-2003): CBS aired a fantastic show that was filmed exclusively at Quantico that delved into the C.I.A.. What made this show even more fascinating was the fact that after 9/11, the show shifted its focus as did the rest of the world and dealt with issues that paralleled the real world. The show starred Jason O'Mara ("Life on Mars"), Beau Bridges ("Stargate SG-1") and Gloria Reuben ("ER").
4. "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" (NBC, 2006-2007): Starring Matthew Perry ("Friends"), Bradley Whitford ("The West Wing"), and Amanda Peet ("The Whole Nine Yards"), this show dealt with the behind the scenes environment of a sketch show (a la "Saturday Night Live".) What hurt this show was that it debuted during the same season as the Emmy-winning "30 Rock" starring Tina Fey. Although "Studio 60" had better ratings, it cost more to produce.
3. "The War at Home" (FOX, 2005-2007): Starring Michael Rapaport ("Hitch"), this series was a modern update on FOX's previous hit "Married with Children". This show portrayed a typical American family that was full of dysfunction. Although it was considered a sitcom, the show pushed the envelope in many ways dealing with gay issues, drug usage, and teen sex.
2. "The District" (CBS, 2000-2004): Starring Craig T. Nelson ("Coach", "The Family Stone"), this show dealt with the Police Department in Washington, D.C. This show differed from most cop shows as it dealt with the Chief of Police, Jack Mannion (Nelson) and him overseeing the rest of his staff. This show hit a falter after beloved star Lynne Thigpen passed away at the end of the 3rd Season. Also starring was Sean Patrick Thomas ("Save the Last Dance") and recurring stars Jean Smart ("Samantha Who?") and Jacklyn Smith ("Charlie's Angels").
1. "Boston Legal" (ABC, 2004-2008): Starring James Spader ("Stargate"), Candice Bergen ("Murphy Brown") and William Shatner ("Star Trek"), this Emmy-winning series dealt with the crazy lawyers of Crane, Poole & Schmidt. What made this show unique was they tackled cases no one wanted to talk about like abortion, gay marriage, bestiality amongst others. This show was hitting its creative strive before ABC pulled the plug on this series.

I am still pissed that Pushing Daisies was cancelled. I mean, that was the most original show on television! Now my other favorite looks like it's going to get canned...Reaper.
